What we do
Research
and development
Nanosilv has always considered research and development activities as an essential tool to develop new solutions and gradually and constantly improve existing products, with a view to seizing new market opportunities and improving production.
In recent years, significant economic resources have been allocated to these activities.
The Research and Development Division is coordinated by a chemical engineer, supported by an Innovation Expert, for the valorization of the results and the evaluation of the market potential of the implemented innovations.
The team deals with:
- Basic research, characterized by studies and in-depth analyses, in the continuous exploration of a still immature technological project that ends with the creation of products on a laboratory scale.
- Pre-industrial development, with the creation of pilot cases, motivated by concrete application objectives to verify the possible feasibility of the innovation.
- Real industrial production.
The team works in collaboration with a large network of renowned public and private research groups engaged in the development of innovative materials.
Technical-scientific collaborations with the University of Palermo
Partnership with the Euro-Mediterranean Institute of Science and Technology (I.E.ME.S.T.)
ISO 9001:2015 Certification
Company with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification
Nanosilv approach ensures continuous improvement of the work.
We explored new insulating materials for our heat-reflecting plaster NS67 RASOTHERM CEMENT LIGHT, in order to optimize its performance and durability, and achieve excellent thermal insulation. In particular, attention has been paid to achieving adequate mechanical performance and thermal conductivity, through the Determination of thermal resistance by means of guarded hot plate and heat flow meter methods - UNI EN 12667; UNI EN 12664; ISO 8301 - on samples of building material.
The same approach has been used to create a heat-reflecting paint, which improves the performance of the insulation used, allowing a significant improvement in terms of energy efficiency and environmental comfort.
Among the new research, we are working on a photoluminescent paint for road and emergency signs: once the maximum charge is reached, thanks to exposure to any light source, both natural and artificial, the luminescent effect of the coating has a prolonged duration without the need for electricity. In the absence of light, the photoluminescent material comes to life, creating new, extremely functional applications for safety.
Another area we are investigating is the development of conductive paints, to be used as an electrical conductor or for the thermal regulation of buildings. In this case, the paint can capture the heat inside of the room instead of radiating it through the walls, and then distribute it into the environment, slowing down its conduction.
Our work has been awarded with the ECODOMUS INNOVATION Award 2022 in the Innovative Materials for Energy Efficiency category.
«The company is a virtuous example of active collaboration with the world of research, through which heat-reflecting and insulating finishes and low-thickness systems for energy efficiency have been developed».
As part of the international project ICBUILD - Boosting the Internationalisation for Circularity in the Building Environment, we have been selected among the 5 beneficiary companies of the first project mission to the fair "The Big 5 Exhibition", the largest and most influential building and construction fair in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, held in Dubai from 6 to 8 December 2022.
The fair was a great opportunity to generate new contacts and explore new business opportunities and Nanosilv obtained support in the internationalisation activities of integrated circular solutions in the building value chain and in accessing the UAE market.
Nanosilv has participated in important events and fairs, such as the European Coatings Show (ECS) in 2023 and in 2025 in Nuremberg, and the Ecoconstruction Exhibition, which took place in Palermo from 17 to 19 October 2023, where construction companies, professionals and researchers met and exchanged ideas about research and eco-building.
