Self-cleaning photocatalytic treatment

To protect internal and external surfaces from stains and the effects of air pollutants.

Self-cleaning photocatalytic product

The pollution of exhaust gases and in general the smog typical of urban centers create black crusts on the surfaces of buildings in our cities. Nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), emitted into the atmosphere, lead to the formation of secondary pollutants, commonly called photochemical smog, leaving the walls of buildings dirty and unsightly as evidence of their presence.

The nanotechnological solution is photocatalytic detoxification.

Nanotechnology offers a specific product for porous wall and cement surfaces, to protect internal and external surfaces from stains and the effects of air pollutants.

Self-cleaning photocatalytic nanotechnology has an antibacterial and antifungal action: titanium dioxide (TiO₂), under natural or artificial irradiation, induces the formation of highly oxidizing reagents capable of decomposing toxic organic and inorganic substances present in the atmosphere, thus allowing the total degradation of VOCs, but also of NOx and SOx (sulfur oxides).

The self-cleaning photocatalytic treatment decomposes the organic substances that are deposited, such as organic stains, mold and bacteria, and even odors generated by gaseous pollutants.

The results obtained show a clear removal of stains after 7 days of solar irradiation.

And what about nitrogen oxides?

A test was performed on NS67 GreenShield according to the UNI EN 16980-1:2021 Standard: - Photocatalysis - Continuous flow test methods - Part 1: Determination of the degradation of nitric oxide (NO) in the air by photocatalytic materials.

Results:

The graph below shows the evolution of the concentrations of NO and NO2 during the test: the degradation of nitric oxide (NO) is equal to 70%, an excellent photocatalytic reduction capacity of NO/NOx.
